Blue Star Scholarship 

The Front Range Community College Foundation has received a generous grant in the amount of $25,000 from the McKee Foundation for their Blue Star Scholarship.  As result of this grant, the FRCC Foundation is providing matching COSI (Colorado Opportunity Scholarship Initiative) funding to allow us to award a total of $50,000 to students.

Scholarship due dates:

  • Funds are available for students enrolled in Fall 2022 or Spring 2023
  • Scholarships will be awarded on a rolling basis.

*Please allow 1-2 weeks for application review.

Criteria to apply:

  • Must be a student veteran attending any FRCC campus or online courses
  • Must be enrolled in at least 6 credit hours
  • Minimum GPA requirement of 2.0
  • Must have a completed Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) on file with the college *
  • Award preference will be given to students who are COSI eligible as determined by their FAFSA or CAFSA
  • Average awards are between $200-$1000 based on need

*Completing a FAFSA does not require you to accept any loans or grants offered and will not affect your GI Bill

How will I receive my scholarship funds if I am selected? 

  • Funds will be deposited into your student account and applied toward any outstanding balance. If remaining funds are available, a refund will be issued to the student. If you DO NOT want the funds to be applied towards your student account balance and would rather receive the complete funds directly, please contact The.Foundation@frontrange.edu. Receipts will not be collected.

What expenses can the Blue Star Scholarship cover?

Health Expenses:

  • Medical co-pays; prescriptions and insurance premiums
  • Holistic pain management
  • Dental Care
  • Non-covered health expenses: massage, acupuncture, etc.
  • Mental Health Visits

Wellness:

  • Household: rent, mortgage, care payments, utilities and telephone expenses
  • Access to care: such as gas/transportation, day care, respite care
  • Research: to reduce barriers for participation in research
  • Personal wellness: haircuts, clothing, fitness support
  • Education (certificates, training, class work, books, software, hardware)

Other:

  • Animal expenses, legal expenses, misc. bills.

We’d like to collect your thank you note as part of the application process so that we can post the funds quicker if you are awarded (rather than waiting for you to send us the note).
